Bio

My scientific career began with a four year stint in the laboratory of Dr. Emina Stojkovic at Northeastern Illinois University, where I studied the structure and function of a class of red-light photoreceptors (bacteriophytochromes) in the non photosynthetic, albeit photomorphogenic, Stigmatella aurantiaca. My work involved mutagenic solution and structural analysis of the photoreceptors, as well as bacterial culture work involving the induction of multicellular bacterial complexes known as fruiting bodies.

I am a first year IBiS student at Northwestern University now, rotating in the lab of Dr. Amaral. While I have no computational experience, I am excited to explore this side of science.
