Bio

I was born in Chicago, but grew up in a small town called Jeju in South Korea. As a child I was fascinated by science experiments where mixing two different things resulted in completely different thing. So, when it became time to go to college, I decided to major in chemical engineering where I could experience lots of hands-on experiments from various classes and labs. During my undergraduate years, I realized that to learn from my results, I needed to be able to analyze and interpret the data I produced. Thus I became interested in pursuing a quantitative and systematic approach to interpreting scientific data.

I got an undergraduate degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2013 from Seoul National University. In December 2013, I joined the Amaral Lab and started a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern University. I am currently studying how, over time, an idea or product spreads through a populations, and how we can optimized this diffusion process. Specifically I am studying the adoption of medical techniques within groups of specialist physicians at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
