Bio
After completing my B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 2002, I entered the Ph.D. program at Northwestern University. Though I was initially convinced that I wished to work on tissue engineering, an early encounter with Luis Amaral convinced me that there were far more stimulating paths to follow.
Shortly thereafter I joined the Amaral Lab as its first doctoral student with a primary focus on characterizing and understanding food-web structure. I defended my Ph.D. thesis, A Complex Systems Approach to the Modeling and Characterization of Natural Ecosystems, in 2007.
